Just to close the issue -- it appears I had uploaded a broken
python-motmot-camiface package for amd64. As far as I know, this won't
affect anyone other than John -- he is the only one I know of using
FView on the amd64 architecture. In case it did break for you, a new
package should be working its way through my infrastructure that solves
the problem.
